What Makes Me Happy!
Spending Time with My Family
Nicolas Oviedo, Colombia, ESOL Writing II
There are many things that make me happy. When I am in a bad mood, I always listen to good electronic music, and it relaxes me and makes me happy. When I work on robotics, create, design, program, and construct autonomous robots, I feel very happy. Watching comedy movies and learning English also make happy. However, the most important thing that brings happiness in my life is spending time with my family. My father, my mother, my sister, and my brother-in-law are the best family in the world. We always laugh, have fun, eat, go shopping, and do everything together. These are a few things that make me happy.

I accepted God in my heart, and he brought a lot of happiness into my life. First, He filled my life with happiness because He made it possible for me to write this paragraph and share his great goodness with my readers. Second, I am grateful for so many blessings, such as the health of my family, and for allowing me to be a parent of an extraordinary girl. I have a beautiful smart daughter; she is four years old. I have a wonderful wife, and we have been happily married for nine years.
Many Things Make Me Happy
Teresa Miranda, Mexico, ESOL Writing II
There are many special things that make me happy. My family is the best gift from God. I am happy to hear my children’s laughter and see them run and play. Other things that give me happiness are trees and flowers. I enjoy spending time by the ocean and listening to the rain and wind. Watching birds also makes me smile. I never wait for the perfect moment; I take a moment with my family in a beautiful place and make it perfect. Thoughts and memories of those moments make me happy.

There are many things that make me happy, but one thing that makes me happiest is summer vacation. I have a lot of time to rest because there is no school. I am very happy as I forget the school routine. During the summer vacation, I can go back to Vietnam to visit my family. Besides, if I do not go to my country, I can go to San Diego to visit my second family, where I spent the first year in the United State.

There are many simple things that make me happy. Getting up every morning and thanking God for a new day with my husband next to me fulfills my life. I am happy to listen to my children play at home. I enjoy drinking freshly prepared coffee. I love to open the curtains in my home to see the world and its beauty. Although the morning is still dark, it makes me happy and thankful to have another day and a chance to be a better person. Enjoying my daily simple life makes me happy.

There are many reasons why traveling makes me happy. First, I can visit other parts of the world and learn about different cultures. Second, going on a trip is very active, and it gives me a lot of energy and allows me to understand many things. I forget all my problems and feel relaxed and happy when I travel. Third, I can make new friends and form good relationships with a diversity of people from different countries. Being in Colombia

Not many things make me as happy as being in my home country, Colombia. When I go there, I love to spend time with my family. I can picture myself with my grandmother sitting at the table in the kitchen enjoying a hot cup of coffee and eggs for breakfast. Just being with her makes me happy and gives me a big smile. Also spending time with my little brother, painting, eating candy, and playing in the park with him brings me a lot of happiness and joy. These simple things in my life make me happy.

There are various things that make me happy. First, the day when I received my university diploma was very special. It was not easy for me to graduate, but I did it, and I will always remember that day. Second, I am happy now because I am healthy, my family is fine, and I have some new friends. In a short period of time, I will also learn another language and get a better job. In addition, I enjoy reading, dancing, laughing, and achieving my goals.
Love and Happiness

There are many things that make me happy. First, waking up by my husband’s side every morning and watching my beautiful daughter grow day by day fill my life with happiness. Second, thanking God for every moment that He gives me makes me feel fulfilled. When I see that my efforts pay off, and helping friends or relatives works out, I have a sense of accomplishment. There are different reasons that people are happy. In my case, my happiness does not depend on how many material things I have, but how much love I can give and receive. These are the things that make me happy.

There are many opportunities in my life that make me happy. When I moved to Houston, Texas, in 2006 with my husband and two daughters, I felt very sad because everything was different. My parents and my friends lived in my country, Ecuador, and I missed them very much. However, in 2007, my little princess was born and brought a lot of happiness to my life. It’s been nine years, and now my beautiful family and my mom are here with me, and I feel very happy because we are together. I am also currently pursuing an associate degree, and it makes me happy. In addition, I have a business, and I feel happy to do what I like.
